Indian Constitution’s 75th Anniversary to Be Commemorated at UK Parliament in London

Mumbai reporter :
For the first time outside India, a special commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution will be held at the Parliament of the United Kingdom in London. The landmark event will bring together prominent dignitaries, ministers, parliamentarians, diplomats, industrialists and social leaders from India and several countries.

The programme is being jointly organised by Bodhisattva Foundation, Mumbai, India, and BBMG Foundation, London, UK. The announcement was made by Bodhisattva Foundation Founder-President Avinash Kamble and BBMG Foundation Founder-President Dr. Gaurav Hans at a press conference held at the Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh.

The celebrations are scheduled to be held from April 27 to May 2, 2027, at the UK Parliament in London. Representatives from India, Japan, Cambodia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, France, South Korea and the United Kingdom are expected to participate in the programme. Ministers, Members of Parliament, ambassadors and leading industrialists from these countries are expected to attend.

The event will commemorate the legacy and contribution of Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution. Various programmes highlighting his life, social movements, vision, literary contributions and legacy will be organised as part of the celebrations.

A special theatrical presentation depicting the life and journey of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar will also be staged in London and Leicester.

As part of the programme, the Indo-UK Free Trade Summit – Chapter 10 will also be organised at the UK Parliament. The summit aims to bring together leading industrialists, entrepreneurs and key stakeholders from India and the UK to promote bilateral trade, investment and business cooperation.

According to the organisers, the broader objectives of the initiative are to promote social equality, cultural exchange, economic cooperation and stronger India-UK relations, while taking the message and legacy of the Indian Constitution and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar to an international platform.

Among the dignitaries expected to attend from India are Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of State Ramdas Athawale and Maharashtra Social Justice Minister Sanjay Shirsat.

From the United Kingdom, the expected dignitaries include former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, MP Virendra Sharma, MP Rami Ranger, former Mayor Sunil Chopra, Holy Group Chairman Vijay Gandhi, MP Bob Blackman and MP Gareth Thomas, along with other prominent personalities.

Former Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Adul Boonthamcharoen, among other dignitaries from Thailand, are also expected to participate. From Sri Lanka, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is expected to attend the programme.

The organisers said the international event will serve as an important platform to celebrate the values of the Indian Constitution, showcase Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s global legacy and strengthen social, cultural and economic ties between India and the international community.
